My Zelda 3DS Hopes And Dreams

With my Capcom hopes and dreams being shot down, I am only hoping for the best when it comes to my other favorite titles. Zelda being one such title. This is another game that's been with me since my childhood, and thank goodness it's still getting games added to it. I was kind of upset when Nintendo released an official timeline though. That kind of took the fun out of it since I had just begun concocting my own timeline theory. Which, in spite of my efforts, Nintendo managed to destroy because of that third split in the timeline.

Anyway, back to being on topic, a Zelda title for the 3DS is being worked on. Thankfully, it's not a secret to everybody. The future release is to have aspects more similar to the console Zelda's as opposed to the usual handheld style. This is like a dream come true for me because I certainly enjoyed playing all of the handheld titles, but I always wanted a handheld title to have the same exploration feel that you can only get from playing a game like The Wind Waker or any of the other console experiences. There's just something lacking about The Phantom Hourglass in that you don't feel like as much of an explorer because of the game's design. The console Zelda's manage to keep the exploration factor by having a large 3D overworld and I honestly believe the ability to move the camera freely from right to left plays another important aspect in the feel of the game. I can only imagine what the game will be like, but I only hope it will not be an obvious inclusion to the timeline, so I can have some fun trying to decipher it's place on the timeline.
As far as what I'd like to see in the game, I would definitely like to see the return of Toon Link. He may not be everyone's favorite, but he is surely on the top of my list. I think the other, more realistic Links have a place, but that place is on the console Zelda games. I think Toon Link just appears to be more of a handheld Link. This might have to do with his small stature, but whatever the case, I doubt we'll be seeing an adult Toon Link in this title (at least I hope not). One thing that has to return is the ability to explore the grassy overworld on foot and/or on Epona. I can only hope that Epona will make her glorious return to the console after seeing her in Ocarina Of Time 3D. This, of course, would mean that in order for my dream to become reality, the game will either have to be placed on a seperate timeline from the Wind Waker branch, or take place before or after the flood (there is a reason for me posting that obvious sentence). Many fans thought a fan image of a Zelda title that featured this flood and its preceding events was a true installment of the series. If you were one of them, I hope you aren't anymore. This would be a bad step in the franchise simply because there would be an absence of Link. That's all I'm saying about that. Anyway, Epona would be a welcome addition to the new 3DS title.
I believe the standard weapons will have to be there (I mean other than the sword of course). The boomerang, bow, bombs, and possibly even the hookshot. I would love to see these return in this game (I hope for it merely because it's almost guaranteed to happen). At the same time, new weapons will most likely also appear. These items are what keeps the Zelda gameplay so fresh and new every time I play a new title.
I would also appreciate it if Kakariko and Lon Lon Ranch appeared in this title. I know that's a little odd, but those are just the places I enjoy the most (plus Lon Lon Ranch would increase my chances of having Epona in the game). The exploration (overused word of this post second only to "title") of this game will need to be very in depth. I want to be able to go where I want (townwise) on foot if I want (Epona broke her leg mode) and I would just appreciate it if Nintendo would deliver these awesome features to me. I want a console experience on a handheld (Ocarina Of Time 3D doesn't count [it's a remake]).
Thus ends my tale of my hopes for an amazing future release. Keep your eyes open for any other news on this game. If I find anything, I will certainly post it. Have a good day.
